DTI allots PHP9.7-M budget for SSF implementation in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY, June 30 (PNA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has PHP9.79-million budget for the implementation of 14 shared service facilities (SSF) project in Western Visayas to still include Negros Occidental.
SSF is a major component of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) that provides entrepreneurs with machineries, tools and equipment, skills, and knowledge under a shared system. This project aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of these entrepreneurs.
In Aklan, the beneficiaries get to avail of the school-based loom weaving facility on pina-abaca fibercraft industry, facility support for the production of handcrafted fashion bags and other souvenir items, SSF on salt making, on food processing, and for packaging facility for muscovado.
Capiz has four coir production upgrading SSF, while Guimaras has SSF for product standardization for sapal weavers. Negros Occidental, on the other hand, has processed food toll packaging support facility and services and enhanced organic farm production through mechanized composting.
Aklan gets to have the biggest share of the budget at PHP3,881,680 followed by Negros Occidental at PHP3,525,040. Capiz will be given PHP1,550,000 while Guimaras, PHP835,985.
Aside from setting up new Negosyo Centers in the region, DTI is also set to improve and optimize the operations of the SSF project. /CBF
