History

Bangkal Elementary School III started out as a two – story semi–permanent building located in a residential neighborhood along Gen. Lim St., Bangkal, Makati City. BES III was created and first opened its doors as a separate complete elementary school to grades one – six students on December 1, 1988. The former Bangkal Elementary School II was split and transferred to a new building at P. Binay St., which was quite far away from the present site of BES III, thus leaving behind 14 teachers with two (2) classes in each grade level.

Its first principal was Mrs. Cynthia G. Misalucha followed by Dr. Elita T. Lopez in 1990 and Mr. Jose M. Paoa in 1992. Late in 1995, not long after Dr. Lolita P. Araneta took up the principalship, it became a part of Bangkal Consortium together with Bangkal I and Bangkal II. Under this new scheme Bangkal III catered to grade one pupils only with nine (9) teachers diligently working together as a team to provide a safe, secure, orderly and nurturing learning environment.

Mrs. Priscilla M. Tanlioco was appointed as officer-in-charge of the school from 1997 to November 30, 2000. Then in December 1, 2000 to August 30, 2002 BES III and BES II were under the administration of Ms. Rosario F. Anuncio. Ms. Matilde C. Agapay became its principal from September 1, 2002 to January 31, 2006. Currently, BES III has eight (8) dedicated, hardworking and committed mentors to its 264 grade one pupils. Mrs. Thelma Y. Paloma has been the school principal since February 1, 2006 up to the present. For the past eleven years now, BES III still a part of Bangkal Consortium continuously serves its grade one clienteles with utmost devotion because the school staffs believe that our children are the treasures of today and the hopes for tomorrow, thus, all our efforts are geared towards providing " what is best for the students " for them to become well – disciplined, responsible and productive / world class citizens of the country.

Curriculum

Students in schools across the country require consistent, challenging programs that will capture their interest and prepare them for a lifetime of learning. They require knowledge and skills that will help them compete in a global economy and allow them to lead lives of integrity and satisfaction, both as citizens and individuals. The objectives then of the elementary education curriculum which are to develop the spiritual, moral, mental and physical capabilities of the child, provide him with experiences in the democratic way of life and inculcate ideas and attitudes necessary for enlightened, patriotic, upright and useful citizenship is outlined to meet these goals.

Teachers and students have complementary responsibilities in order to achieve the objectives of elementary education curriculum. Teachers are responsible for developing a range of instructional strategies based on sound learning theory. They need to address different student needs and bring enthusiasm and a variety of teaching approaches to the classroom. Good teachers know that they must persevere and make every reasonable attempt to ensure sound learning for every student.

Students also have responsibilities, which increase as they advance through elementary and secondary school. Good students have learned that attention and a willingness to work hard will enable them to develop the skills, knowledge, creativity, and personal qualities that good programs can foster. Some young people face extra challenges and may be growing up in environments that provide little or no support. For these students, taking responsibility for learning may be more difficult, and the patience and encouragement of sensitive teachers and parents may be an extremely important factor for success. Nonetheless, learning to take responsibility for one's progress and learning is an important part of education for every student.
