The Kiwanis International, in partnership with LN-4 Foundation, the city and provincial government, and the Puerto Princesa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the coordination of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, (AFP-Wescom) granted around sixty-five (65) patients in Puerto Princesa with free prosthetic arms through a program held at the MMG-Cooperative Hospital on Saturday, November 12. Dubbed as “Give a hope, give a hand in Palawan,” the said program was launched for the first time in the province and is expected to continuously operate and give free-cost US-made prosthetic hands in the next years.
In an interview, Grace Arambulo, President of Kiwanis International, said that there were about 65 prosthetic hands to be given for that particular day, albeit there was a total number of 85 patients who were enlisted. Arambulo said the program does not end there and they assured patients that those who have not yet received their prosthetic arms will be re-scheduled for a next batch, which will happen soon.
Aside from Arambulo, key personalities present during the program include Richard Arambulo, LT Governor, Kiwanis International, Philippine Luzon District 4E and Grace Cabato, Ambassador, LN-4 Foundation. AFP-Wescom was led by Sonny Gonzales. The Kiwanis Club PPC, Coron and Hiyas ng Quezon Division 4C also participated in the said program.
Kiwanis International is open to inquiries on how to avail of their free-cost prosthetic hands. Interested parties are advised to send their picture, name, contact number and age to the number 09178839229.
