THREE people were killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a truck in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Friday.

The Zamboanga del Sur police office said the incident took place around 6 p.m. Thursday in the village of Camanga, Dumalinao municipality.

The police identified the fatalities as Jhon Mark Veña, 17, and his parents, Uri and Evelyn, who died on the spot.

Investigation showed the victims were traveling from Pagadian City to the town of Tigbao aboard a motorcycle driven by the younger Veña when they collided with the truck traveling on the opposite direction.

Isagani Rendoque, 36, the driver of the truck, told the police that they collided when he avoided a vehicle that was ahead of him. The vehicle ahead of him suddenly slowed down.

The police said Rendoque was traveling from Lakewood municipality to Pagadian City at the time of the accident.

Rendoque and his truck assistant, Jerry Timbangan, 20, are in police custody since they surrendered after the accident.
