ANGELES CITY -- Some 30 street children were rescued in two separate operations conducted by officials of Barangay Balibago here.

Balibago village chairman Rodelio "Tony" Mamac said that they conducted the rescue following several complaints and reports that some of the kids are exploited for illegal activities.

"Poverty and lack parental concern pushed them to the streets and in sniffing rugby, stealing, pickpocketing, and snatching. Clearly these children are in conflict with the law," Mamac said.

The village chief said that they tried to turn over the children to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) but to no avail.

"Thinking of bringing the kids to CSWD but just the same, they will advise us to bring them home only to be back on the streets. We may rather keep them in the barangay hall for further counseling," Mamac said.
