2 most wanted in Zambo peninsula arrested

THE two most wanted persons in Zamboanga Peninsula were separately arrested by police authorities on Wednesday, December 7.

Dione Bation, Sr., 66 facing murder charges and Pahad Tantong alias "Paki" facing anti-illegal drugs charges, were arrested in Zamboanga Zibugay and Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, respectively.

Bation was arrested around 6 a.m., in the village of Sto. Rosario, R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay by a joint team of policemen from Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao and PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula.

Zamboanga Sibugay police director Senior Superintendent Romulo Cleve Taboso said Bation is listed as the number four most wanted person in Northern Mindanao.

The suspect has standing warrants of arrest for murder with no bail recommended and frustrated murder with P200,000 recommended bail.

Tantong was arrested by joint police and military forces around 3 p.m. at Purok 3 in the village of Sambulawan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

Zamboanga del Sur police director Senior Superintendent Sofronio Ecaldre said Tantong is the number seven high-value target drug personality and an alleged member of the Ambol criminal group.

Ecladre said Tantong has standing warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 8294 for illegal possession of firearms and RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 with P280,000 recommended bail.
