2 dead, 3 wounded in Zamboanga del Sur road accident

YWO people, including a police officer, were killed while three other were injured in four-vehicle smash-up along the highway of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Sunday, December 18.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) Information Officer Rogelio Alabata said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, December 17, at Sitio Alang-Alang in the village of Poblacion, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.

Alabata identified the two fatalities as Senior Inspector Jeremias Pepito, 54, the officer-in-charge of Tambulig Municipal Police Station, and Rey Capilitan, 32, of Upper Tiparak, Tambulig.

Wounded were Al Rey Estillore, 48, his wife, Flordeliza, and a companion, Mary Joy Awa.

Anthony Kim Suan, 24, the driver of a Fuso Drop-side Truck of Putting Manok Corporation, was unscathed during the accident.

Alabata said the vehicles that figured in the smash-up were travelling to different directions when the incident occurred.

He added Pepito and Capilitan were rushed but they failed to reach the hospital alive.

Suan voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident.
