CLARK FREEPORT -- Scores of senior citizens were taught the easy way to use smart phone and social media to communicate with their relatives during a workshop at SM City Clark the other day.

The seminar, dubbed Oldies but Techies, was initiated by SM Cares in cooperation with Globe Telecom.

Ryan Pamintuan, assistant mall manager of SM City Clark, has underscored the importance of electronic gadgets for the elderly.

Old folks need not be afraid of technology, said Pamintuan.

“Sana po huwag tayong matakot sa technology kasi kung mayroon kayong minamahal sa ibang bansa ngayon ay makikita niyo nayung mukha nila.”

Venus Manalang, public relations manager of SM City Clark, said a group who availed of the program were given a briefing on how to use laptops, Ipads, smart phones and even social media like Facebook, twitter and others.

During the workshop, the seniors were also taught how to browse the internet to hear old music and see classic movies.
