Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. said the Department of Foreign Affairs will extend its passport service to city.
This women’s month, Parañaque recently held an awareness seminar on breast cancer to help raise awareness of female residents and employees.

Parañaque Tourism chief Marilou Fontejon and Special Services head Dean Calleja said new and renewal passport applications will be accepted.
The lecture which centered on breast cancer symptoms, causes, early detection, and cure were discussed by medical officers of the city government and a specialist from the MacKay Life Sciences, Inc.

Free e-passport forms are available at the Tourism Office on the second floor of the City Hall.
Mayor Jun Bernabe said the city government organized the lecture-seminar to increase the awareness of women on the dreaded disease.

“Although the actual evaluation and processing will be made on April 14, it is important that applicants submit the completed passport forms, together with the requirements on or before March 19,” Fontejon said in a statement, adding that 600 slots are available on a “first-come, first-served basis”.
“The key to the fight against breast cancer is early detection. It is imperative for women to undergo examination on this area regularly,” Bernabe said.

New passport applicants must attach to the completed form the original copy of their birth certificates in security paper issued by the National Statistics Office); photocopies of supporting documents like PRC/IBP ID; driver’s license; government service record; old SSS FORM E-1 or digitized ID; and other documents that show full name, birth details, signature and other details.
Health reports disclose that breast cancer is the most common type among Filipino women and the leading cause of cancer deaths for women aged 40-50 years old worldwide.

Updates on requirements for married women and children are available at the Parañaque Tourism Office.
The common signs of breast cancer include: changes in breast size or shape; skin dimpling; nipple inversion; or spontaneous single nipple discharge.

For renewals, applicants must submit to the Parañaque Tourism Office, also on or before March 19 the completed forms with photocopies of the old passport including pages showing the latest Immigration departure and arrival stamps.
Meanwhile, the seminar was followed by testing of women volunteers for cancer first by visual inspection then with a procedure using the Biofield Diagnostic System, a modern method in breast cancer detection

Personal appearance on April 14 is required for both new and renewal applicants. Passport fee is P1,200. All payments will be covered by official government receipts. The processed passports will be released at the City Hall on May 5, 2012.
The seminar is made possible in partnership with the MacKay Life Sciences, Inc.

“The DFA is kind enough to oblige to our request,” Bernabe said. “We had this activity organized so that our citizens may file their passport applications with ease and save on time and money for transportation and meal.
