CLARK FREEPORT -- Groups of Chinese investors are bent on investing billions for the possible expansion of their respective businesses in Pampanga.

This was gleaned during their recent meeting here with Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, Pampanga Councilors' League president Olga Frances David-Dizon, San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong, former San Simon mayor Rodrigo Canlas, and National Telecommunications Commission Regional Director Azor Sitchon.

The two Chinese groups -- Jing Jiang and Yatay -- underscored their respective plans to put up more investments that would generate thousands of jobs for Kapampangans and other locals from nearby provinces.

According to Canlas, the Chinese businessmen want to put in billions worth of investments in the province, particularly in the towns of San Simon and Mexico.

He said a Chinese businessman from the Chinese Chamber Global Group had begun its business venture in the past by acquiring 17 hectares in San Simon.

He added that the other Chinese investors believe that San Simon town has the potential, as it is strategically located beside the stretch and exit of North-Luzon Expressway (NLEx).

The former mayor also revealed that Jing Jiang Group and local partners also bought 40 hectares of land in San Simon but they still want to develop more up to 1,000 hectares. They then asked Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang for the possible expansion up to their town.

"I was the one who contacted Mayor Tumang to tell him that the Chinese investors want to expand in Mexico and their willingness to purchase hectares of land. That's why I arranged a meeting with the mayor in Manila to meet the Chinese businessmen. That's why they came up with an agreement," Canlas said.

He said the Chinese investors wanted to personally meet the governor to present their business plans.

"Nakita naman siguro nila na cooperative sina governor at vice-governor kaya lalong lalakas ang loob nila dahil nakilala na nila ang mga Pampanga officials (They saw that the governor and vice-governor are very cooperative and are now more than willing to invest after they met Pampanga officials)," Canlas said.
