-Escalante City (14 December2009) -- The City of Escalante is moving swiftly to fight the global warming and climate change with the implementation of Solid Waste Management Law.
-It is currently strengthening its anti-littering law in support to the waste segregation city ordinance 138 that imposes no-segregation no-collection policy, Environment Management Specialist Stephanie Pamati-an, said.
-City officials are also drafting moves for the closure of the existing dump site as the new one is being developed at Hda. Amparo, Brgy. Mabini.
-She said out of the 17 hectare lot owned by the city, three hectares will be utilized as dump site.
-In the same area, the Escalante government will implement an intensive Vermicomposting project and a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will rise.
-A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is now being worked out for the city to co-manage its garbage residuals with the City of Sagay.
