Ambush in Shariff Aguak: Police Pursue Assailants of Saudi National

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao del Sur – Local police are intensifying their search for two assailants on a motorcycle, responsible for the targeted killing of a Saudi national and the injuring of his spouse on Tuesday evening.

Shariff Aguak’s Mayor, Datu Akmad Mitra Ampatuan, expressed his vehement condemnation of the attack in a statement released on Wednesday. He has urged the police force to swiftly identify, apprehend, and bring the culprits to justice.

The town’s chief of police, Major Haron Macabanding, identified the deceased as 50-year-old Saudi Solayman Jamal. His wife, Bainot Jamal, 45, sustained injuries during the assault but survived. Both were residents of Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.

According to Major Macabanding, the attack transpired around 6 p.m., with Jamal losing his life instantly while driving his pickup truck. His injured wife was promptly taken to the Maguindanao provincial hospital by her uninjured brother, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Prior to the tragedy, the couple had been to a farm they had recently acquired in the nearby Barangay Labu-Labu, Datu Hofer town. They were on their way home when the attackers, who were spotted tailing the pickup truck, struck.

The driving force behind the ambush, as well as the identity of the attackers, remains undetermined at the moment, as investigations continue.
