On April 17, 2013, Flordelina B. Ulteg, the CTE/VJSSGS Community Extension Coordinator sent a letter with the attached Project Proposal to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to solicit medicines for the Medical and Dental Outreach. The letter was noted by by Dr. Estrella R. Calixto, the Dean of CTE and Dr. Elsie C. Pilar, the Dean of VJSSGS. | |||
The request was granted so the extension coordinator sent her two valid ID (Social Security System and Northwestern University) and Authorization Letter to Dr. Flosie Carmen, one of the personnel of PCSO through E-mail authorizing Dr.Pillar to get the solicited medicines from their office. | |||
On May 26, 2013 at 10:00 o’clock at the CTE/VJSSGS office, the CTE/VJSSGS extension coordinator instructed the members of the different committees. At 12:30 NN, the group from Northwestern University left the campus going to Caribquib, Banna, Ilocos Norte spearheaded by Flordelina B. Utleg, Dr. Estrella R. Calixto and Prof. Zenaida I. Franco, the Principal of the High School Laboratory and a Professor of the VJSSGS. Some of the beneficiaries were already at the Barangay Health Center when the group arrived. | |||
Dr. Pedrico Chellie Calaycay, the University Dentist stayed at the western part of the health center while Dr. Emma Joy Bareng, the University Physician and Dr. Remedios Peralta, the doctor of the Municipality of Banna stayed at the northern part. The committee on attendance gave numbers to the beneficiaries. The latter waited for their numbers to be called so they could be attended to by the nurses and doctors. | |||
The university nurses took the blood pressure of the beneficiaries before they went to the doctors for their check up. Most of the patients had cough and colds and some had fever and had high blood pressure. The doctors gave the prescription to the beneficiaries and the latter went to the pharmacist for the medicines prescribed by the doctors. They gave vitamins to the children. | |||
The university dentist had discussed on how to brush the teeth properly before the tooth extraction. | |||
The committee on evaluation stayed at the Office of the Brgy. Chairman. They helped the beneficiaries by elaborating the questions to the beneficiaries. Some of the beneficiaries wrote their testimonies to express their feelings and thanks to the university. | |||
The undistributed medicines were left at the Brgy. Health Center through the Barangay Health Worker and to the Barangay Chairman, Hon. Adonis B. Manuel, to be given to the residents to use if they get sick. | |||
All the beneficiaries were grateful and very happy for the activities. | |||
The group from Northwestern University visited Paraiso ti Caribquib before they went home. | |||
