Alameda City Bicycle Repair and Maintenance:
Most cyclers are do-it-yourself bike mechanics. They repair their own bikes. This is excellent if you have all the mechanical tools needed to do the bicycle repair. Most cyclers don't.
Find yourself a good bike mechanic, or a good neighborhood bicycle shop with reputable bike mechanics to do all your bike repairs.
You can try your hands at the following: wheel straightening, wheel building, flat tire repair, painting, front derailleur and rear derailleur adjustment and bicycle brake maintenance,
but when you get in trouble, call one of the Alameda bike shops listed above.
- Here are some suggestions on how to do your own bike
repairs and maintenance, that is if you have the right tools, otherwise
go see your nearest bike mechanic. Click on the link provided. It will
take you the Z-Wiki collaborative page about that topic. Your suggestions
on to how to do the repair can be added there.
Alameda Cycling:
Alameda City is a very bicycle friendly town and it makes cycling lots of
fun. The City government works
together with the bike organizations in alameda to make the city more accessible
to bikes. Over 90% of the Alameda City streets have posted speeds of 25 miles
per hour only and this is strictly enforced by the patrolling police officers.
Most of the roads also have bike lanes and they are visibly marked. You can ride
your bike by the Alameda beach and not be worried about speeding cars zipping by
you.
Riding from the main Alameda island to Bay Farm, Alameda is made easy with
the Otis Dr./Doolittle Dr. foot or bike bridge. You do not have to share this
bridge with the cars. The administration of the Alameda City made sure that the
folks of Alameda are safe. Commuting by bike or by foot is made easy in Alameda.
You can safely call Alameda as the "walking or biking city" of the SF
bay area.
Bike Shops vs. Bicycle Shops: Most of the time bike shops are referred to
motorcycle shops rather than bicycle shops. The bike shops listed in this page
do not repair motorcycles. They only repair bicycles.
