as i read thought your stories, they reminded me of the once beautiful river. where me, my brother "ike", sister "ardeen", cousins and most of my playmates learned how to swim. the water running through it was crystal clear then. we could even see some fish, searching for food on the depths of the water. i remember the days when i go there, together with my brother, sister and father, to play on the river bed during low tides. we'd grab some flat stones, and count the hops it'd go when we cast it back on the water. every "fiesta" day, people would gather on the river bunks to watch the fluvial procession goes by. people would go to this river to celebrate during "san juan", the grown ups drink "tuba" while us, who were little kids then, play with our "hiringas" (watergun made out of bamboo).
it just unfortunate that industrialization destroyed the beauty of this river, but the memory that it had brought to most of us "de tugbungan" will always remain.
